System Features

The VisionX computer vision system provides three services: a library of computer vision algorithms, programming tools for new vision algorithms, and convenient interactive access to XWindows and MS Windows image display. The system has been effectively used on a number of multiprocessor environments. VisionX is at a mature stage of development; many of the commands have been in use for 20 years. The system has been ported to a number of UNIX environments and has recently been ported to Windows. Key features include:

  • Over 300 commands.
  • Availability for many UNIX systems including Linux.
  • Availability for Windows.
  • Interactive support for X-Windows display systems and MS Windows.
  • A tagged file format that includes the creation history.
  • Support for multispectral images, 3D images, image sequences, 3D graphics, and feature vector sets.
  • Compatibility with many standard image file formats
  • Program development tools for C and C++.

VisionX commands are available for image display, image filtering, image transforms, image format conversion, computer graphics, feature extraction, statistical analysis and neural networks. A large number of data formats are supported including: byte, signed byte, integer, real, multispectral (color), complex, bitplane, chain code, feature vector and and image sets which may be used for hybrid formats or image sequences.

The current release of VisionX is Version V4. VisionX V4 is currently in the beta stage of development. V4 is a major redesign over V3 that has improved capabilities for image sequences and 3D images.
