NAME

vpbreast − : determine the posterior breast boundary by tracking muslce front

SYNOPSIS

vpbreast if= ig= xc= of= [-v] [-d]

DESCRIPTION

vpbreast determines the posterior breast boundary by tracking muslce front. The muscle front is modeled as a contour f(x, z) parameterized by coordiantes x and z. It consists of the lateral muscle front which serves as the division between breast region and the posterior body, and the medial muscle front which is located at the interface of muscles and other type of tissues. Note that only the medial muscle front anterior to the the lateral muscle front and outside the chest cavity needs to be considered.

The muslce front is first initialized at the axial level of the jugular notch ( the superior end of the sternum) by identifying the most anterior front candidate (specified by the input if=) for each x coordinate. The front is then propagated in the inferior direction by tacking the front candidates based on the smoothness constraints of the muscle front.

OPTIONS

if=

input muscle front candidates, clipped between the vertical extents of the sternum, byte image.

ig=

organ map including muslce candidates (as 255), chest cavity (as 75), and outside body (as 125), byte image.

of=

output muscle front (as 255) and region (as 125) anterior to the front, byte image and same bbx as if=.

xc=

x coordinate of the sternal angle, serving as the separation of the left and right breast.

-v

verbose mode.

-d

debug mode.
