Vlan is the VisionX Lung Analysis module. It contains programs to analyze low-resolution whole lung scans and high resolution scans of nodules.

The goal of the whole lung analysis is to separate the thoracic region into segmented and labeled organs. Maintaining a map of the chest will then allow extraction of one or more organs or regions of interest for specific analysis (vchest). The analysis tools generally consist of disease detection and/or visualization, such as nodule detection (vdetect) and emphysema quantitation (vemph). Vlan itself is a script to manage the whole lung analysis. It keeps accounting records of segmented organs, statistics, etc.

The nodule analysis programs are used to characterize, visualize, and assess growth of pulmonary nodules. VPNA is the main program for displaying and analyzing nodules. Vban segments nodules from hi-resolution scans and generates colored 3D renderings. Growth analysis is provided by vgrowth and vngrp groups nodules. Version 1.0 - May 10, 2002
