Brief Biography:
Sergei Fotin is a graduate student in the Vision and Image Analysis Research Group headed by Dr Anthony Reeves at Cornell University. Prior coming to Cornell, he studied at Ural State Technical University, Yekaterinburg, Russia, in the Division of Radioengineering, and received his degree with a major in Software and Computer Engineering. He also used to work as a developer at software firms in Russia.
Research Interests:
Solving problems of computerized image analysis and pattern recognition.
Current Research Topic:
- Automated lung cancer detection
Examining three-dimensional lung CT images for tiny early-stage nodules is a very tedious and time consuming task for the radiologist. The main goal of this research work is to design and validate an automated system that will detect all cancers without raising too many false alarms.
- Reconstruction of coronary arteries
Decision making in heart disease diagnosis relies heavily on the automated analysis of cardiac images. Here we develop a method for computerized extraction of coronary arteries from CT angiography data.
