Andrew Browder

Brief Biography:
BS EE, 2003 (Georgia Institute of Technology);

Andy is a graduate student in the School of Electrical Engineering at Cornell University . Andy works in Vision and Image Analysis Research Group headed by Dr Anthony Reeves.

Research Interests: Computer Vision/Image Analysis and its usage in medical imaging.

Current Research Topic:
Andy's current research area is on GGO (non-solid) lung nodule segmentation and characterization. Using three-dimensional computer modeling from HRCT, an accurate assessment of nodule growth rate can now be achieved for smaller regions of both solid and non-solid nodules (GGOs). GGO-type nodules have not been studied as much as solid nodules and may have different malignancy rates. Characterization of these nodules could lead to more effective early screening programs and improve the survival rate of lung cancer. Click here for more information about this research topic

Andy is also working with Brad Keller on a collaboration with the Vet College on bacteria enumeration in high-resolution microscopy images. Automated counting of bacteria aids the clinician by giving them an accurate assessment of the number of bacteria in a given region.
