Brief Biography:
BS EE, 2005 (Pennsylvania State University)
Artit Jirapatnakul is a graduate student at Cornell University in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He earned his BS at Pennsylvania State University in EE with a focus on signal processing. Artit works in the Vision and Image Analysis Research Group headed by Dr. Anthony Reeves.
Research Interests:
Artit is interested in the application of computer vision and machine learning algorithms to medical imaging.
Current Research Topic:
Artit is currently working on characterizing solid pulmonary nodules in CT scans. High-resolution CT scans have allowed the identification of possibly malignant nodules at a much earlier stage. Volumetric doubling time is an often used indicator of malignancy, but calculating the doubling time requires several CT scans in time progression. Characterization of nodules could lead to improved cancer detection rates and increase the chances of survival of lung cancer. Click here for more information about this research topic
