Binary Temporal Difference Filter [3]
PLAN: As we studied in lab 5, by subtracting successive frames of an image sequence and thresholding the difference, it is possible to determine what has moved in the sequence. We thought this would be an easy way to find the ball...

Can you find the bowling ball in this picture?

What about now?
WHAT WENT WRONG: This didn't work for a couple of reasons. First of all, the gray levels of the ball are similar to those of the lane and the ball spins around. Therefore, it would sometimes appear as though nothing was moving within the borders of the ball. Also, our camera was not held perfectly still, which means that the difference between 2 frames may be the entire image!
