WHAT WENT WRONG: The rotating ball with a multicolored surface didn't work very well with our edge detector. There are a lot of distracing edges throughout the scene, and we didn't get a large majority vote for the ball. There was also the reflection of the ball in the oil, which caused us some grief.
In our initial attempts, we were dealing with interlaced video, which was a disaster for our Sobel operator.
